McDonalds pays more

Speaking from personal exp: if they can’t find the wages they want here, they’ll just outsource overseas where they can get it.

Source: been laid off due to said outsourcing

It’s becoming more of an issue nowadays. Companies don’t want to pay decent wages now, but they can do it b/c were all desperate and need a job….which sucks for newbies trying to get in (desperate people w/more exp willing to take a cut).

My favorite are the jobs that are advertised as entry level, but down in the requirements it says you need at least 10 years of experience.

Oh, and it pays $30,000 per year.

Can we all just agree that no one should have to work two and three jobs just to stay afloat? I feel like it is way too normalized to have jobs…as in plural, multiple. People used to have a career. One fucking job to do….not two plus.

I don’t understand why people don’t go into construction, we lack skilled trades, will for the next 20 years and it pays well. You willing to sweat some pipe you will make 100k a year before you are 30.

“Oooh nooo we can’t find anyone to fill our senior delevoper position for 3 dollars a year. We have no choice but to outsource!”

FurryPornAccount

I saw a junior accounting job the other day the required 10 years minimum of work experience as an accountant on indeed blew my mind

HR managers just throw random numbers out there hoping to find a gem dumb enough to take the offer and make their lives easier.

They’ll even say “8+ years of experience in [software that’s only been out for 5 years]” because they don’t know what they’re talking about

Try a scientific field. Phd, post doc, massive list of publications, long list of skills. That or janitor in a lab. No in between.

But you’re also being paid in experience!
