The detail that Clarice misses is a painting of a moth/butterfly. The killer that she's chasing throughout the movie puts a cocoon inside the mouth of every victim that he kills. At this point in the movie, she does not know if this is the suspect's house, and the painting would have been a hint to her.

Those 60s cartoons were interesting. Very low quality animation but the stories were typically pretty close to the comics. The theme songs were all a bit kooky. Not quite as catchy as the 60s Spider-Man series but close in some cases.
