Former Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was paid $5,000 in quarters by AAF

  • One of the oddest stories to come out as of late regarding the AAF is one involving former Raiders’ running back Marshawn Lynch.
  • According to Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr, Lynch agreed to attend the AAF draft and give a quick interview in exchange for $5,000.
  • Lynch didn’t want a check to be paid in his name.
  • Instead, he asked to be paid in quarters, presumably so the check wouldn’t bounce.
  • When a check was presented to Lynch, he asked that his money be delivered instead in quarters-which AAF co-founder Charlie Ebersol took seriously.
  • In the end, 20,000 quarters were delivered to Lynch’s room and the interview apparently took place … but no one ever saw it.
  • Maybe Lynch knew ahead of time that the league wasn’t going to last long and decided he would rather be paid now in quarters rather than via check? Who knows, but this is one of the odder stories revolving the AAF..
